Potency & Cannabinoids
Measuring the potency and cannabinoid profile in Cannabis, Hemp and CBD products is essential. We analyze 12 different cannabinoids, with the total individual percentage values available on the Certificate of Analysis. These cannabinoids will determine the product’s potency at the time of testing, which is crucial for each stage of the production process. Ordering Research & Development panels prior to CA Compliance, promotes the best insight to obtain the best results.
For example: Hemp/CBD products that contain above 0.3 percent THC are no longer labeled as Hemp/CBD, which will negatively affect the manufacturer’s market options.
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in Cannabis and Hemp. When consumed, they interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system breaks down and synthesizes these compounds that produce psychoactive and non-psychoactive effects. The ECS responds differently to each type of cannabinoid. Quantifying the potency of each cannabinoid provides vital insight to cultivators, distributors and consumers.
How We Test for Potency & Cannabinoids
Homogenize product using exclusive techniques that exceed state requirements. Analyze each sample by utilizing High-Performance Liquid Chromatography. Certificate of Analysis is provided after our scientific team accurately calculates results.
Complimentary Moisture Test Included
As moisture affects potency levels, all flower samples undergo an additional test with our state-of-the-art moisture analyzer at no added cost. We utilize the state of California’s Department of Cannabis Control formula to calculate final potency:
Dry-weight percent cannabinoid = wet-weight percent cannabinoid / (1 − percent moisture / 100)
